Short answer: technically yes, practically no. SimpleConsign connects to Shopify. Shopify's own eBay tool only imports listings that already exist on eBay, it won't create a new one from a Shopify product. So getting a new item live on eBay means running four separate systems: SimpleConsign, Shopify, Shopify's eBay tool, and a fourth, usually paid, app that does the actual publishing.
With enough manual work, and all four of those set up, it can technically work for a while. But building listings by hand and tracking what's sold in store across four different systems isn't practical for a sporting goods consignment shop with skis, bikes, and hockey gear moving in and out every day. Real users of that chain have reported sold items not getting marked sold on the online side, because the whole thing depends on syncs running on their own schedule instead of catching a sale the moment it happens.
That's a lot of software for something that should take 30 seconds.
What we built instead
The Snapy Box sits between your barcode scanner and your computer. Nothing about checkout changes, your staff scans an item exactly like always. But that same scan also tells Snapy the item just sold, instantly, and it comes down everywhere it was listed, Shopify, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, SidelineSwap, Google Shopping, wherever we've put it for you. No fourth app, no waiting on a sync. It doesn't ask SimpleConsign for anything, so there's nothing on that side to break.
How this looked at our first store
At North Shore Sports Swap, getting started was: open the app, take a few photos of an item with the barcode in frame, and hit add. That's it. The app writes the title, description, and details for you, you glance it over, and move to the next item. About 30 seconds each. Three of us listed close to 300 items, over $50,000 of inventory, in about ninety minutes. The owner got so into it he wouldn't let his staff put away a pile of ski boots until they'd been through the app first.
What changes for you, and what doesn't
If you run SimpleConsign, nothing changes on that side. You keep ringing through sales exactly the way you do now. The only new habit is about 30 seconds per item as it comes in the door, photographing it in the Snapy app. Everything else, getting it online and getting it pulled down the moment it sells, happens on its own.
The payoff
In a five-week test, stock that had been sitting more than 30 days was about twice as likely to sell once listed on Snapy, compared to identical stock left on the floor. When it sold, it sold faster too, a median of 15 days down to 9. And $200-plus gear sold fastest of all, a median of 7 days, since the right buyer for something expensive usually isn't in your store that week.
A few quick questions
Do I have to give up SimpleConsign? No. Snapy runs alongside it. Your consignor tracking and payouts stay exactly where they are.
Do I need Shopify for this to work? No. That's the whole point, Snapy skips the Shopify and app-store chain entirely.
What if I'm not on the SimpleConsign Professional plan? Doesn't matter. Snapy doesn't touch SimpleConsign at all, so which plan you're on is irrelevant to us.
